POUND by Todd English is the newest burger-joint in town! The people behind it sure knows how to get people's attention by offering the #paywhatyouwant promo during their soft-opening last week! I was in the same area last week and wondered why there were a lot of people lined up, I ignored it anyway. HAHA I thought maybe a famous celebrity dropped by, little did I know that there was a promo going on. Screw me for not figuring out the promo during that time!!
I think I'm just as lucky as the other Booky app users because Booky tied up with Pound to extend the #paywhatyouwant promo for another week!!! Yuup, you read it right, there's an ongoing promo that's about to end tomorrow (Feb19) at 9pm. This is valid for all Booky Prime users!! You just have to show them your Booky application and you're on for the promo.
I've been a big fan of Booky ever since I discovered the app and have been using it to know about the new places in town. Thank you Booky gods!! Thank you for this tie-up with Pound! Hehe.
Promo starts at 6PM during dinner. My friend and I got there around 5:45PM and a lot of people were already asking about how to avail the #paywhatyouwant promo. We were lucky enough to be first in line because the place was just small and could probably just sit less than 30 people and would mean we have to wait for a group to finish before we could get ourselves seated.
The interior reminded me of AdaƤm and Yves Organic Restaurant, I wonder if they had the same designers...or owners? haha
The place was really small. We got the spot in front of the kitchen/counter so we could see everything going on from placing the order, to preparing the burger and serving it. I tell you, they're kind of efficient that way! The orders came in after 10-15minutes. Not bad given the place was already full!!
First burger is the Amsterdam Burger (P280). It was a burger with Pastrami, Gruyere, Sauerkraut, Mustard Relish and T.E sauce on homemade Brioche bun.
We chose this one over the T.E burger and Bacon&Egg sliders because we wanted cheese on our burger. The Gruyere drowned to the taste of Mustard relish and T.E sauce, it seemed as if the Gruyere was not there!!! Or I wonder if there really was Gruyere on our burger? Well, if there was none, I'd be really disappointed but the burger still tasted good anyway. It is good and not as bad as the reviews available online but my friend and I would still prefer Charlie's over it.
Second burger we ordered was their most talked about T.E Crispy Chicken Burger (P220). If you read reviews online, this would probably be everyone's favorite. The crispy chicken served with T.E sauce and Cilantro Aioli was a good combination and I understand why people loved it so much but this one's too nakakumay for my liking. The first few bites were good but I don't think I can finish a whole burger alone. The flavors were too strong it made me give up on the burger. And not sure if the deep friend chicken contributed to the umay feeling but well, I ate it anyway and left the bun. It was breast part so sulit talaga ung chicken portion sa burger ?
The experience was okay, nothing too extraordinary to be remembered. I'm not sure if I'd crave for it but if I do, I'd probably crave for the chicken minus the buns. HAHAHAHA. I do hope that the efficiency of their service wouldn't change over time. If there's something about them that I'd love, it would be the efficiency so they should work on maintaining and improving that too.
Our bill was P555.50 but since the experience was ordinary, my friend and I decided to pay P40 for both burgers. YASSS!!! P20 for each burger we ate. Haha not bad given we don't have these kinds of promos often. Why not take advantage of it na, dba?
