If you are working in Makati, specifically Legaspi Village, Palanca street wouldnt be new to you. It's been one of the busiest streets where you can find several "after-work" hangout places like the Plantation, the Curator and Boiler Room.
Amongst all the places in Palanca St, I'd have to say that Plantation is my favorite. The buy 1, take 1 deal... The food... It is what makes it stand-out from the rest. It is also a cheap place to hang after a long day at work. The Spicy Spareribs, Chicken Fingers, Potato Wedges and Chicken Parmigiana are a few of the things that makes me go back again and again. I used to go to Plantation 2 times a week until I discovered a new place right beside it!!! I've always ignored Red Dot when I pass by, little did I know that this place was also a gem in Palanca.
I loved the al fresco area of this restaurant. It was breezy and spacious, I can easily move around. It doesn't feel like I have to be cheek-on-cheek with someone. The only thing I probably hated about it is that there were a lot of flies. You can always ask for a candle to shoo them away anyway, so it's really not that big of a deal.
The Chicken Teriyaki Bento is one of the best decisions I've ever made. For P320, you get to have your miso soup, rice, chicken teriyaki, salad, Camote tempura, dessert and a glass of Iced Tea. It was definitely sulit til the last butil of rice!!! (Hehehe)
The Philly roll is made up of avocado, salmon, cream cheese and lots of SESAME SEEDS. I liked it even if I barely tasted the avocado and the cream cheese. I think it would've been better if they mixed everything together to produce the "cream cheese-y avocado-ey salmon-y(?)" taste. I did not like that this roll had lots of sesame seeds as well. It wasn't written/mentioned anywhere on the description so we opted to get this. My friend who was with me that time happens to be alergic to sesame seeds so I had to manually remove the sesame seeds stuck on the very sticky rice for her to be able to enjoy it, too. It was not a fun task to remove those small seeds from the very sticky rice!!! :( but I knew I had to because I don't want to just be the one to enjoy it. If you're a die-hard fan of Omakase like me, please do not get their Spicy Tuna salad. It's not anywhere near the quality and taste of Omakase's version. It sucks that they did not put Tuna chunks, the dressing was barely there. It was as if I was eating raw veggies without any flavor :( it wasn't even spicy AT ALL!!!!
I love corn!! So when I read this on the menu I already know that I should go for it. The waiter asked me what flavor or seasoning O wish to have on my corn. I said Chili Flakes in a heartbeat so I was patiently waiting until it was served. I love anything spicy and I love corn, putting it together would be fantastic!
When it was served, I got my corn with WASABI. It's not that I don't like it, it's just the eagerness of trying out corn with chili flakes and then poof! I don't why the waiter got it wrong, he repeated my orders and it was right. I still liked this place nevertheless. Their barchows are also good. I dont remember if they have the same buy1,take1 promo but the prices here are ok and cheap considering it is in Palanca.
