Long overdue post because.... because it took me X years to finally recover from stress and find time to write on my blog. HEH.
I discovered Nikkei via Booky Prime and got instantly hooked when I read that Booky Prime users can avail of the P500 discount when you book your table via the application. Do note thay the P500 discount is not available all day, there are only specific timeslots for this price so you must really check and book ahead of time. I think I booked ours at 9PM on a Saturday because that's the timeslot that had P500 off. I was insanely excited when I read reviews via Looloo because it gave me that jittery feeling!! I am so fond of Japanese food so I have that urge to try anything that's Jap food related, I GET A LITTLE TOO EXCITED WITH THE THOUGHT OF JAP FOOD. Of course, eating out is such an expensive hobby so we gotta use all resources there is to avail of discounts and even more so, freebies. I honestly don't care about spending money on food before but now, it is just hard not to care because well, I have to save and being in love with food doesn't help me. But, thanks to Booky Prime!!! Booky Prime is the greatest innovation to food lovers!! Not only do we get the benefit of being able to reserve tables but we also get discounts on several Booky Prime restaurants. Discounts varies from P100-P500 and sometimes comes with a surprise dessert! Now for the most awaited part, the FOOD!!!
This dish stole the show that night. It was very yummy and sulit because the whole roll was packed with ebi! Hindi tinipid ang feeling! It was alao sulit considering it was just P160!!! I'd probably get this again the next time I go back - this time, 10pcs all to myself! Bwahaha
I remembered liking this dish because of the different textures I got to experience while eating it. The Cilantro salad was also amazingly good, I'm not a cilantro fan but this would do. The Huancaina Risotto was also good but it was too creamy and rich that I ended up getting umay. The tuna, on the other hand, was flavourful and fresh. Putting everything together was an amazing experience bec the flavours were bursting inside my mouth with the play of the different textures.
Though I had a good experience with this dish, I'd still think that it was a little too expensive. If P500 pwede pa siguro, acceptable. But I think P680 is a little too much ?
The Classic Ceviche was made of white fish, red onions, rocoto, cilantro with canchita and glazed sweet potatoes on the side. I am not fond of ceviches, I honestly never thought of ordering it but a friend of mine suggested this dish so I finally went for it. Good thing I listened to her bec I did not regret anything about this dish! It was sooooo damn good! I loved the vinegar used for the ceviche, it was perfectly sour. ? it was sulit, I actually ate 3/4 of the dish and got full after. It was really that good I almost finished it by myself!!
This dish is made of salmon with salad sauce and CRISPY TEA. I loved this dish because of the crispy tea! It gave the salmon a different flavor which made the dish more interesting!!! I'd probably try Kocha with tuna/whitefish as the main next time!!!
Overall, the experience was good and unique. The place is quite pricey but if you know how to choose the right things to order then you'd probably find the place sulit. The ambience is also a plus! It was just small but it was really nice as well (thanks for the very nice lighting! My photos are nicely lit hehe).
