I never knew the restaurant near Plantation is called The Belle and the Dragon and only literally figured it out when I was looking for it. I had to ask the guard from Family Mart along Palanca St because I was kinda feeling lost.
I guess I never considered trying this place because it looks expensive and I can only afford the buy 1, get 1 in Plantation. Haha but thanks to Booky, I was able to book a table with a P500-off discount! The menu had a lot of interesting dishes and most of it is just pricey. There's this feeling you have to be wise on which ones to choose so you will not regret spending so much. The Bar Chows are for sharing and the mains, are of course, good for 1 to 2 persons. It was kind of hard to agree on which ones to order because 1) the mains are pricey and looked heavy and 2) the Bar Chows are okay but it looked a lot for 2 people!
We decided to get the classics out of the Bar Chow menu - nachos. Wanton nachos is made up of wanton crisps, hoisin sour cream slaw, sriracha aioli, mozarella, cheddar and ground pork. The most obvious answer on why we chose this was because it had 2 kinds of cheese on the description!!! It felt as if we will go CHEESY overload with the dish but got disappointed when we got it. It was yummy, crunchy and tasted good but I just think it lacked cheese :( I LOVE CHEESE. And if it only had lots of it, then maybe I'd go back and order this again.
Another bar chow classic that's almost a no-brainer to order. Fried chicken wings in buffalo sauce sprinkled with sesame and paired with sour cream sauce. It was pretty good and I did not expect to like it. It was sweet so maybe if we had it with rice, the experience would've been better.
Of course one of the perks of booking via Booky is you get to have FREE dessert!!! I love the fact that this restaurant does not have any desserts on the menu but was still able to offer us something. It was also surprising that among everything we had that night, it was this free dessert we loved the most! Haha I guess mas masarap talaga kapag libre.
I read that the place was supposed to be a speakeasy place but it didnt feel like that all. It was very noisy (or maybe just the table beside us).
The food was good and the servers were friendly and approachable. Still not enough to say I enjoyed everything. Feeling ko may kulang but I could not pinpoint what exactly that is. Maybe I should go try the mains next time?
