I must admit, I wasn't well-informed about TWG's 50% off treat as they turn 4 this year. I did not see any advertisements or any promotional ads to get it into my radar so thank you to my friend who told me about this promo (idk how she found out about it but thank God she did!).
TWG is known for its good quality and hefty-priced tea(s). I have never attempted to try on their meals because the price just scares me a lot. So when I found out about the 50% off promo, I didn't think twice and just went for it.
The promo lasted for a week, held last Nov 14-20 (if Im not mistaken), there were not much people who knew about it so you don't have to endure long lines or long wait times to be seated. It was a breeze just like on ordinary days.
The meals and macarons were 50% off except their tea selections. And not all meals were discounted, they just have a separate anniversary menu where everything's sold at 50% off.
I went to 2 different branches for 2 consecutive days and since the anniversary menu did not have much choices, we ordered almost the same things.
We ordered almost everything on the menu but started the meal with Aviator Salad made up of pan-seared chicken supreme, romaine lettuce, garlic croutons, fresh Parmesan shavings topped with poached egg and a touch of seaweed tossed in a light spiced sauce infused with Comptoir des Indes Tea.
I liked the salad because it had different textures combined in a bowl. The poached egg made this salad more interesting, its unique texture went well with everything on the bowl. Since I went to 2 different branches, I can't help but compare how the dish looked. The one on the left looked more appealing and well-thought of than the one on the right. And to be honest, it kind of disappointed me. But anyway, it tasted the same as the first one I had so pwede na din. Magiinarte pa ba ako? HAHAHA.
The pasta was okay. It was good but nothing really exceptional about it. It's not even something I'd crave for in any ordinary day. The mains were mostly the highlight of this TWG spread. I loved everything we ordered especially the Peppercorn Chicken!!! It was just so good and sulit because the serving is really huge, it can be good for two already. the Beef Tenderloin was also a good thing to have on your tables. We chose to have ours medium-well so it was pretty good, I only had a small piece of the beef but it was totally worth breaking my diet. What's a day to enjoy unhealthy food anyway... I still have lots of time to make up for it too ? (#excuses)
Of course, desserts will always be part of the menu and will always be part of the things I wanna try in a restaurant.
We were lucky enough to be able to order their Crème Brûlée which happens to be the most in-demand dessert to-date. We also tried the 1837 Crêpe that's served with homemade berry marmalade made of raspberry, blueberry, cherry and blackcurrant infused with 1837 Black tea, served with a scoop of artisanal Vanilla Bourbon Tea ice cream. It was good but it's really sour so if you don't really enjoy sour desserts, don't go for this. The scone and macaron set were just so-so. I didn't really enjoy it. HAHA
The experience was good and I liked everything about the place - from ambiance to food. It will just be an expensive place to dine so I'm trying to set expectations with my tastebuds. Haha we need to wait another year to enjoy the meals!!!
I wonder what discounts they'd offer when they turn 5.?

I cannot believe it's already November and that also means I'm about to gain 10lbs because of all the upcoming festivities in lined with the Christmas season! I'm pretty sure, most weekends, if not all, in December would be just as packed as last year's. And it is but timely to get excited to what this year has to offer!!! HEHE. I'm mainly excited about the food and nothing else!!! I grew up in a family that loves preparing and cooking everything for Christmas parties. From appetizer to main course to dessert, we do everything!!! But that was only when we were all less busy with life. Now is a different story because all of us are busy professionals who do not have time to do all the preparations required to pull off a really beautiful (within the budget) party. We all love trying out new things and of course, new things that's within budget and has good quality. For the past 2 years, we've been eating out on Christmas eves. We've let go of the traditional preparations because we do not have the luxury of time and eating out is fit for everyone's convenience and comfort. Believe it or not, I'm not a fan of "eat-outs" on holidays. I'm more of the person who'd enjoy it more if we can celebrate intimately in our own home. But the past years have been tough because I cannot find a supplier who can provide our needs and satisfy our family's taste buds!!! It's just so hard to find the restaurant-style (presentation and taste) kind of food that's within budget. I mean there are a lot of good caterers out there but you sure need to shed out $$$$$ to get what you want. I'm super happy I have discovered Party Toques by Chef Rob Lau (same owner of Gourmade - a diet food delivery service in the Metro) and Chef Mike. They only recently launched their Party Trays line of business and was honored to be invited to it!!! The launch was just an intimate dinner where they served their main dishes and desserts. I wasn't able to take a photo of the whole spread with a good angle and this was the best I could do. HAHAHA. We were served their sushi platters, Beef Kebab, Chicken Biryani, Miso Salmon and Valenciana Roasted Chicken with Pealla Rice and many more. It was indeed a good gastronomic experience!! The Beef Kebab, Chicken Biryani and Miso Salmon were a few that hit the spot for me!!! All three are extremely good, unique and flavourful!!! Eating the Chicken Biryani (my favorite/star of the night) felt as if I was dining at a really expensive restaurant! If I was to host a party with these on the menu, I'd probably need to prepare my budget well because 1 tray is not enough, they'd surely go for another round after trying it the first time!!! And I'm not even kidding! Some might think that the trays are a bit pricey, but believe me when I say it is not pricey at all. I believe the quality is still the most important thing to consider next comes the price. So if you wish to have this on your tables, you should try first before you doubt it because of the price. I'm assuring you that with Party Toques, you get the right quality of food that you paid for (and more)!!!! I was sad that I was already full the time I got to the dessert table, so I was only left with a minimal space to stuff myself. I only had the Dark Chocolate and green tee cupcake with the Mango and Sesame Seed Serradura. Both were very good and the Serradura, their version of Ref Cake, was in itself very unique. The overall experience with Party Toques was definitely one for the books. It was such a blessing to have discovered this just in time for Christmas season because now, we do not have to eat out and spend a lot on food that's not even worth it. I really think that the people behind Party Toques put so much passion on what they do and to be able to put up a business like this is just really amazing!!! I'm so excited to order my Party Trays for future events because I will sure please all my guests with it!!!! 😍 Party Toques is surely the Food Platter Expert. Thank you so much to Chef Rob and Chef Mike for the experience!!! If you guys want to know more about them, you can simply follow them on Instagram: @partytoques/@gourmadebychefroblau or email them at [email protected]
Let me know how you guys think once you've tried!!!! 😁 |
