Isla Una won my heart in various ways. I'm not sure who owns this place but I was told that the people behind this place happens to work for Magic 89.9 and might've been the same reason why they had the coolest playlist ever! I'm a big fan of music so it's a big plus for me when restaurants have really good playlists.
The place was just small but had 3 floors. The furnitures used were rustic so it sort of makes you feel at home. I love the chairs and the tables especially the ones at the 2nd floor. The al fresco area/rooftop is also something to look forward to. It is a good spot when you want a different view while having lunch/dinner or when having drinks. It is also a good place to stay to see the sunset. Now, the FOOD. We ordered almost all the best sellers because we are not sure as to when we could go back and visit again. It's a no brainer to choose which ones to order because duh, it is Filipino cuisine and we know almost everything already. Their menu is pretty much the same as all the other Filipino restaurants but some of the dishes were modified to be more interesting.
When the food arrived, I got curious and excited. But I was also hesitant to try everything! It looked so tempting and deadly to me!!!
❗️The Lechon Belly was my favorite of all. I loved how crunchy the skin was and how it was prepared. I can barely feel how deadly it was because it wasn't oily at all. It went well with the sauce even if the meat already tasted great. It was well marinated so it was really malasa and went well with Garlic Rice and even Plain Rice.
❗️Prawn Aligue also stood out not only because it was yummy but because it was really sulit. The prawn was also fresh and had a generous amount, hindi daya lang masabi lang na may prawn. It was surprisingly not nakakaumay as well. But I think you still have to take the right serving, else you will end up having high-blood ?
❗️The Sizzling Bulalo also stole the show this night. It was good and I mean, GOOD. The mushroom-herb gravy was too perfect! We were all thinking that it would be good to use the same sauce for pasta dishes. The bulalo meat of this dish was also perfectly cooked. It gave me the "melts in your mouth" experience!!! So so sooo good!
❗️ Isla Una's Kare-kare has the perfect peanut-y taste that I'm looking for in a kare-kare. It went well with the bagoong that's just right - not bland, not too salty, just right. It was flavourful and it went well with plain rice as well as garlic rice that I failed to try!!!
❗️ The Yema Palitaw is definitely my favorite!!! It was a different take on the usual palitaw that we know. It was filled with yema that's really sweet but ended up complimenting the almost bland taste of the palitaw!!! Putting them together was such a smart idea!
Overall, it was a good experience. Everything I included on my blog are all my favorites. We also had Crispy Pata and Bagoong Rice that I did not enjoy as much as I did with the others. It's not as bad but I think it lacked the flavor that I was looking for. The Crispy Pata was also a bit matigas and overpriced. I'm quite not impressed with it. However, I'd still give this place a 4/5 rating because I still love their food, ambience and place itself.
