Galli Village Cafe is a Spanish-Filipino fusion restaurant located at the G/F of the YMCA hotel in front of the National Shrine of Sacred Heart Church in San Antonio Village, Makati City. The restaurant is just small. It can sit about 20 people in the dining area and another 20 in the al-fresco. It is definitely an interesting place to go to because the neighborhood is different from the usual Makati restaurants.
I've been a big fan of quiet, chill places so this already gave me a nice 1st impression when I got there. It made me eager to go inside and check the place out. The restaurant was decorated with lots of different photos from different destinations, the furnitures were close to what we have at home (almost antique types), the vibe was very homey!!! I almost didn't feel that I was in a restaurant! There were a lot of interesting things to try on the menu but decided to only try three. We got the Paella Valenciana since this place was said to be the home of the best Paella in the Metro.... There's no way I'll take a pass on this! We also got the Lengua Con Setas and Beef Salpicao.
• Paella Valenciana (good for 5-8 persons): approx P590
I'm a big fan of Paella so this dish made me excited more than anything during that time. I got even more excited when it was finally served on our table! The smell sent shivers down my spine (HEHEHE). I don't know if it was just me though, but I kind of got disappointed with this dish! It might've just been one of those days that the Paella didn't get to please a Paella-lover! The rice for me was a bit overcooked because the texture was a bit different from the Paella I'm used to. The "tutong" part was also missing ? I was desperately looking for the "tutong" part but it really wasn't there! Maybe Galli Cafe really doesn't make their Paellas toasted (maybe I should suggest next time I go? ?) The seafood on the Paella tasted as if it wasn't fresh or maybe it's because the seafood was also overcooked so it changed the texture? I really don't know. But anyway, the taste was not bad! I liked it with lemon and the home-made chorizo sealed the deal for me. It was good and not too salty so it complemented the dish! I'd probably order this dish next time and just request to have ours toasted so I'd be happy with the "tutong" part. Hehe • Lengua Con Setas (good for 2 persons): P240 THIS IS MY FAVORITE AND HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT. #allcapsparaintense I cannot anymore stress how much I loved this dish. The sauce had the buttery, mushroomy taste that I expected out of the dish and it went perfectly with the perfectly cooked lengua. It was indeed a party for my taste buds!!! If I were to rate this dish alone, I'd probably give it a 4/5!!! Really so good but I think the amount of sauce is a bit kulang or tipid. It might be a whole lot better if they add a generous amount of sauce to the dish para "sauce palang ulam na". I would really order this again when I go back!!!! I might get 2 orders... For... Myself!!! Bwahahaha • Beef Salpicao (good for 2 persons): P240 This is another dish that surprised me! It lacked the garlic-y taste that I was looking for or maybe it is because the Beef Salpicao from Galli is cooked differently. Not the way it is usually done on other restaurants and at home. The dish had a generous serving of beef tenderloin so sulit na din naman talaga! The overall experience was good! The food here is really cheap considering that they're offering Spanish cuisine. I've not eaten in any Spanish restaurant that has the same price as Galli's. I mean P240 for the lengua and beef salpicao is not bad AT ALL. Big eaters would probably think that the serving is small, but average eaters would think otherwise. The serving is just right for the price. If you want more, then order 2 plates! Cheap naman so it wouldn't hurt your pockets. Hehehe! ?
